Fix image thumbnails not displaying
Sometimes, WordPress cannot display the thumbnails of previously uploaded images after configuration changes. To fix this issue, you can use a third-party plugin, like the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
Regenerate all thumbnails for your site
- Sign in to WordPress.
- Install and activate the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
- On the left-side menu, select Tools and then Regenerate Thumbnails.
- (Optional) Select or clear checkboxes next to available options if you want to make adjustments to the default setup.
- Here you can choose which thumbnails to regenerate:
- To regenerate all thumbnails, select Regenerate Thumbnails For All X Attachments, where X is the actual number of attachments.
- To regenerate only thumbnails for all your featured images, select Regenerate Thumbnails For The X Featured Images Only, where X is the actual number of featured images.
After the process is complete, you should see the All done message.
Regenerate individual image thumbnails
- Sign in to WordPress.
- Install and activate the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.
- On the left-side menu, select Media.
- Select List view.
- Locate the image, hover over it and then select Regenerate Thumbnails.
- (Optional) Select or clear checkboxes next to available options if you want to make adjustments to the default setup.
- Select Regenerate Thumbnails.
After the process is complete, you should see the Done! Click here to go back message.
