What happens after an auction ends?

Domains must be transferred to the buyer's account after a domain sale is completed through GoDaddy Auctions®. The method to move the domain name and who initiates the move depends on how the domain was purchased and if the seller and buyer accounts are registered with GoDaddy.

As a buyer, now that you’ve won your domain, it's time to purchase it and move it into your account. 

Purchasing your domain

You'll need to make a payment before getting the domain moved to your account. 

1. Sign in to your GoDaddy Auctions® account. (Need help signing in? Find your username or password.)
2. Select Bidding List, then Won.
• For a single domain, select Pay for this domain, then continue through the checkout process.
• For multiple wins, select the box next to each won domain, then select Purchase all.

For domains won through an expiry auction, you must make a payment within 48 hours of the auction closing. After that time, you’ll be automatically billed for the domain and its renewal fee using the payment method in your account. If we are unable to collect payment for any expired domains you’ve won, you'll forfeit any rights to the domain and your auctions membership will be suspended. The current domain registrant may renew the domain at any time during the registrar's renewal grace period. If this occurs, the domain won’t be available to win through auction anymore.

For domains won through the Offer/Counteroffer listing type, the buyer will have 30 days to complete the payment. As a courtesy to the sellers because of this extended time frame, we generally will honor a seller's request to cancel a transaction if payment has not been made within 7 days of the close of negotiations.

Domain delivery time frame

After you’ve paid for your domain, the estimated delivery date varies depending on the listing type. 

• Expired and closeout auctions:
  1. Sign in to your GoDaddy Auctions® account. (Need help signing in? Find your username or password.)
  2. Select Bidding List, then Won.
  3. Under Status, your domain’s estimated delivery date will be displayed.

• Offer/Counter-offer or Buy now

  Domains purchased via Offer/Counter-offer or Buy Now listing type should be delivered within 5 to 20 days after the payment is delivered.
