Verifying Contact Information for .UK Data Validation Process
Why did I receive an email asking me to verify my contact information?
Nominet, the UK Registry, requires all .uk domains to have accurate and updated contact information. When a .uk domain is registered, the registry performs data quality verifications on the contact information.
During this validation — known as 254 Data Quality Validation Underway — Nominet will perform a 3rd party identity check on an organization name (or full name if you are registering as an individual) and mailing address separately. Nominet will not match a contact name with an address during this process.
If you own a .uk domain and you’ve received an email stating that you need to verify or update your contact information, it means that the UK registry has been unable to validate your organization name (or full name) and/or mailing address. There are two issues you need to address at this stage:
- If your contact information has not been updated in 30 days, your domains may be suspended and will not renew until you update this data. Once you update, the domains will renew. For instructions on updating your contact information please see Edit my domain contact info.
- If you believe that your contact information is, in fact, correct, you may email us a copy of your photo ID or a recent utility bill or recent bank statement with your name and address clearly displayed. Please be aware that the identification documents need to match the contact information on the domain.
Once you've completed verification of your contact information, any suspensions should be avoided. For further questions or issues, please email us.
