Update my GoDaddy Payments owner and business info

In your GoDaddy Payments account, on the Payment Settings page (navigate to that page by selecting Settings and then Payments), you can update your business and owner information. If you originally onboarded as a sole proprietor using your SSN, here you can also add an EIN to register your business for tax filing purposes. Here are the following types of updates you can make:

  • Business information: Update your Legal Business Name (as registered with the IRS), Doing Business As (DBA) Name, and Business Address.
  • Business structure: Upgrade from a sole proprietorship to a registered business entity by adding the EIN you use for tax filing.
  • Owner information: Update the owner's first and/or last name if it has changed since onboarding.
  • Ownership information: If ownership of a registered business has changed, update the owner's name, SSN, date of birth, and address.
  • Contact information: Update your email address and phone number.
  • Locale and regional settings: Change your preferred region and language.

Preparation before you update

Before you update your GoDaddy Payments Account, take a moment to review the details below and make sure you have the required information and documentation available.

  • Owner name updates: We may approve your update automatically, or we may ask you to provide additional verification, such as a driver's license or passport, and a selfie verification check. If you operate as a sole proprietor, you cannot update the SSN you provided during onboarding.
  • Business structure or business information updates: If you are upgrading from a sole proprietor to a registered business by adding an EIN, or if you are updating information for an existing registered business, we may approve the update automatically or request supporting documentation. Accepted documents may include a CP-575, W-9, W-2, or IRS Letter 147-C. If you already operate as a registered business, the SSN field remains blank for security reasons, and you cannot update your EIN. Be sure to provide an Employer Identification Number (EIN) issued by the IRS, not a business registration number issued by a state or local agency.
  • Manual review: If we identify concerns with your update request, we may review it manually before approval. Reviews typically take 1–7 business days. We may also contact you by email to request additional information or documentation. After approval, updates usually appear in your account within a few minutes.
