SmartLine Help

Port my number to another provider

If you change phone providers, you can transfer your SmartLine phone number to the new provider. To prevent your phone number from being transferred without your consent, you’ll need to follow the steps in this guide.

Local numbers: Get a port-out passcode from GoDaddy, which you'll use when you submit your port-out request to your new provider.

Toll-free numbers: You won’t get a port-out passcode, but instead, you’ll receive an email with your Customer Service Record (CSR) information, which you’ll use to port out your number.

To start the process of changing providers, follow these steps:

  1. From the email address we have listed on your GoDaddy account, send your request to portout@vms.GoDaddy.com. Please include the number you want to port.
Note: Make sure you send the email from the email address on your GoDaddy account, not the one listed on your SmartLine plan for notifications.
  2. We’ll send you an email with your passcode, and let you know you can port your number. If you have a toll-free number, we’ll send your CSR instead.
  3. Note: While we respond to passcode requests as quickly as possible, please allow 1-2 business days for the response email.
  4. Submit a number port request with your new phone provider. There's no expiry date on your passcode, so you can use it at any time.

If we cannot unlock your number for any reason, you'll receive an email explaining why.
