Outlook for Mac isn't accepting my password
If you keep trying to sign in to Outlook for Mac and it continues to ask for your password even after you enter it correctly, we're here to help.
My macOS password was reset
If your macOS user account password was recently reset, it might not match the password stored in your login keychain. To fix this, follow Apple's steps to update your keychain password.
I recently updated my macOS version
If you've installed the most recent macOS update, Outlook for Mac might stop accepting your password even if it is right. To fix this, remove the Outlook client configuration files that were corrupted.
- Close Outlook.
- In your Applications folder, find and open Keychain Access. It might be in the Utilities folder.
- On the left sidebar, under Keychains, select login.
- Select All Items.
- In the search bar in upper-right corner, search Exchange.
- Select all the results, right-click (or, on a Mac, control-click) and select Delete (all) items.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6, but search for Office instead. Make sure to delete all the results.
- Repeat steps 5 and 6, but search for ADAL instead. Make sure to delete all the results.
- Open Outlook.
- To sign in to Outlook, enter your password when you're prompted. You might need to complete multi-factor authentication.
I followed these solutions, but my password still isn't working
If Outlook still won't accept your password, create a new macOS user, and try to use Outlook with that profile instead.
