Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy Help

Change the domain on my Microsoft 365 email account

If you purchased a new domain that reflects your brand, you might want to update your email account to match. But before you can change the domain associated with your Microsoft 365 account, it must:

  • Be registered in the same account as your Microsoft 365 email plan.
  • Have its DNS registered in the same account as your Microsoft 365 email plan.
  • Not be set up on an existing Microsoft 365 organization.
Note: If you want to use a domain that's not registered with GoDaddy or uses external DNS, contact a GoDaddy Guide. After we link the domain name so it's part of your Microsoft 365 organization, you can follow the steps below.

  2. Select Manage next to the email address you want to update.
  3. In Account information, select Edit.
  4. Next to Username, select Change domain. A dropdown list will show the available domains in your account that meet the requirements for use on Microsoft 365.
  5. Choose your new domain and select Ok, Got it. This acknowledges that your new and old domains will be linked.
